“Perahera Sandeshaya” the communication of the successful conclusion of the Kandy Esala Perahera Festival 2023 was handed over to His Excellency the President Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe marking the conclusion of the festival.

Copra To Light Up The Procession Was Donated By Sri Lanka Army
“Copra” (dried up split coconuts) to light up the procession was donated by Sri Lanka Army. The Army Commander Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage symbolically presented a tray of “Copra” today (Aug. 11th) to mark this donation. Accordingly, the army will donate about 20 KG of “Copra” to light up the entire procession. Vijayabahu infantry regiment of the Sri- Lanka Army has been continuously donating the required amount of “Copra” for the procession since 2014. After handing over the Copra stock to Sri Dalada Maligawa, the Commander of the Army met Hon. Diyawadana Nilame and exchanged some views regarding the upcoming Kandy Esala Perahera Festival, its security program, and other important matters. Diyawadana Nilame appreciated the continuous commitment of the army to the Esala Perahera Festival and also expressed his gratitude to all the army members who were involved in the preparation of Copra. The Diyawadana Nilame then presented a special commemorative gift to the Army Commander in recognition of the great service rendered by the soldiers and also appreciated the efforts of the troops who contribute to it. කන්ද උඩරට ඇසළ පෙරහර මහා මංගල්ලය ආලෝකවත් කරන්නට ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද්ධ හමුදාවෙන් මෙවරත් කොප්පරා පරිත්‍යාග කරනු ලැබුවා. ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද්ධ හමුදාධිපති ලුතිනන් ජෙනරල් විකුම් ලියනගේ මැතිතුමා විසින් ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ දී අද (අගෝ. 11) පෙරවරුවේ එය සංකේතාත්මකව නිලමේතුමා වෙත පිළිගන්වනු ලැබුවා. ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ පෙරහර කොප්පරා පන්දම් වලින් ආලෝකවත් කිරීම සදහා අවශ්‍ය සම්පූර්ණ කොප්පරා ප්‍රමාණය වන කිලෝ විසිදහසකට ආසන්න ප්‍රමාණය ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද්ධ හමුදාව විසින් ඒ අනුව පූජා කරනු ලබනවා. 2014 වසරේ සිට පෙරහර මංගල්ලයට අවශ්‍ය කොප්පරා ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවට පරිත්‍යාග කරනු ලබන්නේ ශ්‍රී ලංකා යුද්ධ හමුදාවේ විජයබාහු පාබල රෙජිමේන්තුව ප්‍රමුඛව සෙසු රෙජිමේන්තුවල බැතිසිත් දායකත්වයෙනී. කොප්පරා තොගය ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවෙත භාරදීමෙන් අනතුරුව, දියවඩන නිලමේතුමාගේ සහ යුද්ධ හමුදාධිපතිතුමාගේ ප්‍රධානත්වයෙන් පැවති කෙටි උත්සව අවස්ථාවේදී මෙවර ඇසළ පෙරහර පැවැත්වීමට අදාල ආරක්ෂක වැඩපිළිවෙල සහ අනෙකුත් වැදගත් කරුණු සම්බන්ධව අදහස් හුවමාරු කර ගන්නා ලදී. එහිදී දියවඩන නිලමේ තුමා විසින් ඇසළ පෙරහර මංගල්ලය සඳහා යුද්ධ හමුදාවේ අඛණ්ඩ කැපවීම අගය කළ අතර, කොප්පරා පූජාව සඳහා දායක වූ සියළුම වීරෝදාර රණවිරුවන් වෙතද සිය කෘතඥතාව පළ කළේය. අනතුරුව දියවඩන නිලමේතුමා විසින් යුද්ධ හමුදාවේ වීරෝදාර රණවිරුවන් නොකඩවා ඉටු කරනු ලබන කොප්පරා පූජාව අගයමින් යුද්ධ හමුදාධිපතිතුමන් වෙත විශේෂ සමරු තිළිණයක් ප්‍රදානය කරන ලදී.

Kandy Esala Perahera 2023
A discussion was held today (July 5th) in the Sri Dalada Maligawa Auditorium with government officials and security chiefs regarding the holding of this year’s Kandy Esala Perahara festival. The Anunayaka thero of Asgiri Maha Viharaya, Most Ven. Anamaduwa Dhammadassi, the honorable Diyawadana Nilame of Sri Dalada Maligawa, and Basnayana Nilames participated in the discussion. The primary activities required to organize the 2023 Kandy Esala Perahara festival were discussed. මෙවර කන්ද උඩරට ඇසළ පෙරහර මහා මංගල්ලය පැවැත්වීම පිළිබඳ රාජ්‍ය නිලධාරින්, ආරක්ෂක අංශ ප්‍රධානීන් සමඟ සාකච්ඡාවක් අද (ජූලි 5) දින පස්වරුවේ ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ ශ්‍රවණාගාරයේ දී පැවැත්වීය. මේ සඳහා අස්ගිරි මහා විහාරීය අනුනායක අතිපූජ්‍ය ආණමඩුවේ ධම්මදස්සි නාහිමිපාණන් වහන්සේ, ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ ගරු දියවඩන නිලමේ තුමා හා බස්නායන නිලමේවරුන් සහභාගී වූහ. 2023 ඇසළ පෙරහර මහා මංගල්ලය පැවැත්වීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය මූලික කටයුතු පිළිබඳ මෙහිදී සාකච්ඡා විය.

Kap Situweema (The Planting of Kapa ) – Kandy Esala Perahera Festival 2022
The Planting of “Kapa” at the four Devalaya premises today..The “Kap Chanting” which took place yesterday early morning marking the beginning of Kandy Esala Perahera Festival 2022 was planted today (July 29) at the four Devalaya premises at the auspicious time for this ritual. As the first ritual of the Kandy Esala Perahera Festival comes to an end, the inside processions will commence from today onwards at Natha, Vishnu, Kataragama and Paththini Devalaya premises. සිව් මහා දේවාල වෙත ගෙනා “කප” සුබ මෙහොතින් අද සිටුවන ලදී..ඓතිහාසික කන්ද උඩරට ඇසළ මහා පෙරහර ආරම්භය සනිටුහන් කරමින්, කප කැපීම ඊයේ අළුයම් යාමයේ සිදු වූ අතර එසේ කපා මහනුවර සිව් මහා දේවාල වෙත රැගෙන ආ කප අද (ජූලි 29) අළුයම යෙදුන සුබ මෙ‍ෙහාතින් සිටුවන ලදී. 2022 කන්ද උඩරට ඇසළ මහා පෙරහර මංගල්ලය වෙනුවෙන් ප්‍රතමයෙන් ඉටුකළ පුරාතන චාරිත්‍රය එසේ අවසන් වන විට අද දින පටන් නාථ, විශ්ණු, කතරගම හා පත්තිනි යන සිව් මහා දේවාලවල අභ්‍යන්තර පෙරහර ආරම්භ වනු ඇති.
Koppara Pujawa- Kandy Esala Perahera Festival 2022
“Koppara” (dried up split coconuts) to light up the procession was donated by Sri Lanka Army. Accordingly, the army will donate about 15 tons of “Koppara” to light up the entire procession. Kap Chanting ( Kapa Kapeema) ceremony, the first ritual of the Kandy Esala Perahera Festival 2022 was performed today in Sathara Koralaya.. The ancient ritual of Kap Chanting of the Kandy Esala Perahera Festival of the hill capital was performed today the 28th day of the month of Esala in year 2022 at the auspicious time of 4.33 am at Aluthnuwara in Sabaragamuwa Province. The ritual was performed under the leadership of Sri Maha Vishnu Dewalaya of Kandy. The Kapa which was brought to Dadimunda Dewalaya of Aluthnuwara on the royal tusker was later brought to Sri Maha Vishnu Dewalaya in a magnificent procession with drumming and accompanying instruments, after performing the ancient rituals & offerings. The Kapa was distributed among the four Dewala at the auspicious time of 4.10pm. Inside processions in the Dewala premises will start from tomorrow (29th July) after planting the Kapa at the auspicious time of 3.03 am. Kap Chanting ceremony was held today
Kap Chanting (Kap kepeema) ceremony was held today early morning in Sathara Koralaya marking the start of Kandy Esala Perahera Festival… The Kap Chanting (“Kap Kepeema” ) ceremony was held today, the 08th day of the month of Nikini in year 2021 at 04.10 am the auspicious time in Aluthnuwara. This ceremony was organized by the Maha Vishnu Devalaya as per the ancient tradition which was followed for the past 3 centuries continuesely. The “Kapa” which was brought to the Dedimunda devalaya in Aluthnuwara on the Royal tusker with the sounds of drumming and other accompanying instruments was later brought to Sri Maha Vishnu Devalaya in a magnificent procession. The “Kapa” will be distributed among the four devalaya today in evening at 03.10 pm the auspicious time for this. The costumes for the elephants for the Esala Perahera Festival 2021 were donated today
The colorful and glamourous costumes for the elephants for the Esala Perahera Festival 2021 were donated today (04) in the morning at Sri Dalada Maligawa. Mrs Wasana Perera donated the set of costumes for the 3rd time for the first Kumbal procession which will start on the 13th of August. Costumes were donated by Mrs. Anoja Dharmapriya for the 8th time under the guidance of Ven. Yatiyantota Chandakitti Thero for the 2nd Kumbal procession, by Mr. Lahiru Asanga Srinayake a set of Batik costumes for the 3rd Kumbal procession, by Mrs. Saumya Herath for the 4th Kumbal procession and by Mrs Nisansala Perera of Kandy for the 2nd time for the 5th Kumbal procession. The costumes for the tusker group were donated for the 3rd time by Mrs Disna Wanigasekera for the first Randoli procession, by Mrs Rukmani Perera for the 8th time under the guidance of Ven. Yatiyantota Chandakitti thero for the 2nd Randoli procession, by Mr R. N. Rajapakse for the 7th time for the 3rd Randoli procession, by Mrs Sagarika Thirimanne of Panadura for the 10th consecutive time for the 4th Randoli procession, by Mrs Chathurika Wijetunge for the first tusker of the 4th Randoli procession and by Mr Thusitha Wijesena the chairman of Kandy City Centre(KCC) for the 27th consecutive time for the Grand Randoli procession, by Mrs Nimathri Randeniya the costume was donated for the first tusker of the Grand Randoli procession and the costume for the Day procession was donated by Mrs Sasanka Alwis. 2021 ඓතිහාසික කන්ද උඩරට ඇසළ පෙරහර මහා මංගල්ලය විචිත්‍රවත් කරන හස්ථිරාජයින් සඳහා අලංකාරවත් හස්ථි වස්ත්‍ර පරිත්‍යාගය අද(04) දින පෙරවරුවේ ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ දී සිදු විය. අගෝස්තු 13 වන දා ඇරඹෙන කන්ද උඩරට ඇසළ පෙරහරේ පළමු කුඹල් පෙරහරේ මංගල හස්ථිරාජයින් වෙනුවෙන් වාසනා පෙරේරා මහත්මිය තුන්වෙනි වතාවට ඇත් ඇඳුම් පරිත්‍යාග කළ අතර දෙවන කුඹල් පෙරහර වෙනුවෙන් අටවෙනි වරටත් පූජ්‍ය යටියන්තොට චන්දකිත්ති ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේගේ මඟ පෙන්වීමෙන් අනෝජා ධර්මප්‍රිය මහත්මිය ඇත් ඇඳුම් පූජා කරන ලදී. තෙවන කුඹල් පෙරහර සඳහා ලහිරු අසංග ශ්‍රී නායක මහතා විසින් බතික් වලින් නිර්මාණය කළ ඇත් ඇඳුම් කට්ටලයක් පූජා කළ අතර, සිව්වන කුඹල් පෙරහර සඳහා සෞම්‍යා හේරත් මැතිණියත්, පස්වෙනි කුඹල් පෙරහරේ මංගල හස්ථිරාජයින් සඳහා දෙවෙනි වරටත් ඇත් ඇඳුම් පරිත්‍යාග කරනු ලැබුවේ මහනුවර නිසංසලා පෙරේරා මහත්මියයි. පළමු රන්දෝලි පෙරහරේ මංගල හස්ථිරාජයින් සඳහා දිස්නා වනිගසේකර මහත්මිය විසින් තුන්වෙනි වරටත්, දෙවන රන්දෝලි පෙරහර සඳහා අටවෙනි වරටත් පූජ්‍ය යටියන්තොට චන්දකිත්ති ස්වාමීන් වහන්සේගේ මඟ පෙන්වීමෙන් රුක්මනී පෙරේරා මත්මියත්, තුන්වන රන්දෝලි පෙරහර වෙනුවෙන් හත්වෙනි වරටත් ආර්.එන්. රාජපක්ෂ මහතා ද ඇත් ඇඳුම් පරිත්‍යාග කරනු ලැබුවා. සිව්වන රන්දෝලි පෙරහර වෙනුවෙන් අඛණ්ඩව දසවෙනි වරටත් පානදුරේ සාගරිකා තිරිමාන්න මහත්මිය ඇත් ඇඳුම් පරිත්‍යාග කළ අතර, චතුරිකා විජේතුංග මහත්මිය විසින් සිව්වන රන්දෝලි පෙරහරේ පෙරමුණේ ඇතු සඳහා ඇත් ඇඳුම් පිරිණමනු ලැබුවා. අවසන් මහා රන්දෝලි පෙරහර වෙනුවෙන් 27 වෙනි වතාවටත් කැන්ඩි සිටි සෙන්ටර් හි (KCC) අධිපති තුසිත විජේසේන මැතිතුමන් මංගල හස්ථිරාජයින් සඳහා ඇත් ඇඳුම් පූජා කරන ලදී. අවසන් මහා පෙරහරේ පෙරමුණේ ඇතු සඳහා ඇත් ඇඳුම් පිරිණමනු ලැබුවේ නිමාත්‍රි දන්දෙණිය මැතිණිය විසිනී. සසන්කා අල්විස් මැතිණිය දහවල් පෙරහර වෙනුවෙන් ඇත් ඇඳුම් පරිත්‍යාග කරනු ලැබුවා.

2021 කන්ද උඩරට ඇසළ පෙරහර මහා මංගල්‍ය සංවිධානය කිරීමේ කටයුතු පිළිබඳ රාජ්‍ය අංශ නිලධාරීන් දැනුවත් කිරීමේ හමුවක් අද(09) පස්වරුවේ ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ නව ශ්‍රවණාගාරයේ පැවැත්විය. එහි පෙරහර සඳහා අවශ්‍ය ආරක්ෂාව, ශිල්පීන්ගේ හා රාජකාරිකරුවන්ගේ සෞඛ්‍යාරක්ෂාව ඇතුළු වැදගත් කාරණා රැසක් පිළිබඳ සාකච්ඡා කරන ලදී. මල්වතු මහා විහාරයේ ශ්‍රීමත් අනුනායක අතිපූජ්‍ය දිඹුල්කුඹුරේ විමලධම්ම නාහිමිපාණන් වහන්සේ, ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ ගරු දියවඩන නිලමේ තුමන්, මහනුවර දිස්ත්‍රික් ලේකම් තුමන්, සෞඛ්‍ය අංශ නිලධාරීන්, ආරක්ෂක අංශ නියෝජනය කරන නිලධාරීන් හා ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ පරිපාලන නිලධාරීන් මේ අවස්ථාවට එක්වීය.A meeting was held today (09) evening at the new auditorium, regarding the organization of the Kandy Esala Perahera festival and to educate the government officials. The safety of those who will be participating and their health guidelines were among the topics discussed. The most Ven. Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhamma thero of the Malwathu chapter, the Lay Custodian of Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy District Secretary, officials from health authorities, officials from security forces and the administration officials of Sri Dalada Maligawa were among those who participated.

ලබන අගෝස්තු මස පැවැත්වීමට නියමිත හෙළයේ මහා සංස්කෘතික පූජෝපහාරය වන කන්ද උඩරට ඇසළ පෙරහර මහා මංගල්ලය වෙනුවෙන් නර්ථනයෙන්, වාදනයෙන් හා විවිධ පෙරහර රාජකාරීමට කටයුතු ඉටු කරනු ලබන ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ හා සිව්මහා දේවාලයන්හී කලා ශිල්පීන් ඇතුළු සියළුම සහභාගි වන්නන් සඳහා කොවිඩ් 19 වසංගතයෙන් ආරක්ෂා වීම සඳහා එන්නත් ලබා දීම සිදු කරනු ලැබුවා. ඒ මහනුවර ජාතික රෝහල හා ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාව ඒකාබද්ධව සිදු කරන එන්නත් කරන වැඩපිළිවෙල යටතේය.අද(30) පෙරවරුවේ සිට ශ්‍රී දළදා මාලිගාවේ නව බහු කාර්ය්‍ය ගොඩනැඟිලි පරිශ්‍රයේදී පැවති මෙම එන්නත්කරන වැඩසටහන සඳහා සහභාගි කර වූ අය අතුරෙන්, ආදිවාසී නායක ඌරුවරිගේ වන්නිල ඇත්තන් ඇතුළු ආදීවාසි ජනයාද වීම විශේෂත්වයකී. සෑම වසරක පෙරහර මංගල්ලයේ පළමු රන්දෝලි පෙරහර දා මී පැණියෙන් දළදා සමිඳු පුදන පෞරාණික චාරිත්‍රය ඉටු කරනු ලබන්නේ අපේ ආදිවාසි ජනයා අතින්ය.පෙරහර රාජකාරිකරුවන් උදෙසා ක්‍රියාත්මක කළ මෙම එන්නත්කරන වැඩසටහන, කොවිඩ් 19 වසංගතයෙන් ආරක්ෂා වීමේ රජයේ වැඩපිළිවෙලට සමගාමීව ප්‍රදීප් නිලංග දෑල ගරු දියවඩන නිලමේ තුමාගේ පූර්ණ අධීක්ෂණය යටතේ සෞඛ්‍ය අමාත්‍යාංශයේ මෙහෙය වීමෙන් සිදු කරන ලදී. The most awaited cultural event of the nation, the Esala Perahera Festival is scheduled to be held in the month of August. As a precaution and preparation for it the vaccination program of all those who will be participating in Esala Perahera Festival was held today (30) at the New Multipurpose Building of Sri Dalada Maligawa. This was part of the vaccination program against Covid 19 initiated by Sri Dalada Maligawa and the Kandy General Hospital.It was interesting to see that “Uruwarige Vanniyalaetto” the head of the indigenous group of Sri Lanka also being part of them. It is a tradition that this indigenous group offers Bee’s honey to the Sacred Tooth Relic, on the day of first Randoli procession.The vaccination program for those who will be participating in perahera was in par with the national vaccination program against Covid 19. This was held under the full supervision of Pradeep Nilanga Dale, the Lay Custodian, and the guidance of the Health Ministry.video
